Ballybunion Golf Club Cashen Course, A Perfect Complement to the Famous Old Course of Ballybunion

Getting a booking in the old course of the Ballybunion Golf Club can be quite difficult especially in the peak season. A long list is filled up months before the season and most of them are seasoned golfers looking forward to the difficult yet very relaxing links. But if you dont get the chance to have some tee time on the old course, you may find that the Ballybunion Golf Club Cashen course, its new course, can be quite as challenging and some might say its more challenging.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones SR., the Ballybunion Golf Club Cashen course features spectacular yet difficult long links dotted with enormous sand dunes, which means you have to make the ball fly when you play to the number of greens that has been elevated in these treacherous course.

While scores of golfers from all over the world flock to Southwest Ireland for the old Ballybunion Golf Club course, local golfers tend to prefer the new Cashen course. Many low handicapped golfers have also expressed their preference for the new course, but the old still remains as a must go to and play course for all golfers, for maybe at least once.

The Ballybunion Golf Club Cashen course has traditional links and like the old course, it is exceptionally unique, and is set with the greatest sand dunes found in golf courses world wide. Both are also designed along the Atlantic Ocean offering a calming back drop.

The Ballybunion Golf Club Cashen course is also a private members only club like the old course, but they do sometimes allow limited public access during weekdays. Limited guest plays are also allowed but must always be accompanied by a member.

The Ballybunion Golf Club Cashen course has set booking conditions so that other golfers can be accommodated as some of them come from different parts of the globe. Some of the conditions are:

 All payments are non-transferable and non-refundable.
 Bookings not paid by the due date will be removed from the list
 Payment in full must be given 28 days after reservations has been made.
 Payments can be done via cash, cheque or credit cards.
 A handicap limit is observed. 24 for males and 36 for females.
 The certificate of handicaps should be presented on the day of reservation.
 A group of four would only be the allowable number in each play.

Being one of the most sought after golf clubs in Ireland and the world, members, guests and visitors are expected to follow a dress code that would met the clubs high standards and should be neat, tidy and clean.

You will not be accepted in the club if you were the following:

 Sleeveless, singlets and shirts with no collars.
 Outfits with slogans.
 Shorts that are not tailored.
 Untucked shirts
 Leisure or track suits.
 Also, pant legs should not be tucked inside the top of the socks.

Carts are now also available to be used around the Ballybunion Golf Club Cashen course, it will only set you back 3.50 Euros for each cart for each round. You can also ride on buggies in the Cashen which is prohibited on the old course.

When it comes to golf courses, the Ballybunion Golf Club has more than a century of experience in the industry, whether its the old or new, you can be sure that you will get one of the more satisfying golf vacation trips in Ireland that you'll ever have.

The trajectory of a golf ball and the distance it travels depends on its initial trajectory, speed and spin, as well as what it's moving through (air). The air is not always the same. It varies in temperature, pressure, humidity and density. If there were no air whatsoever, the golf ball would not travel far. Likewise, if a ball is hit in air with no spin, it will not travel far.

Assuming that you have a driver with enough loft, here are four things that you can do to increase launch and decrease spin rate, thus increasing your distance off the tee:

Don't grip the club too tightly. A tight grip inhibits a smooth swing and follow-though. Also, keep the grips on your clubs in good condition. Worn grips force you to hold the club too tightly. Replace the grips on your clubs as they get worn and smooth. When first learning the grip, keep a club around the house and practice gripping and regripping the club a few minutes each day. Remember to keep fingers secure and arms relaxed.

Winning Golf Resort Vacations

By: Winifred Holstone

Sun, sand, blue skies . . . and golf? If this sounds like your idea of paradise, then a golf resort vacation could be the ideal retreat you've been looking for.

Golf is a universal sport, and so there are wonderful golf courses virtually anywhere you're willing to travel. Here are just a few of the world's favorite golf resort destinations:

* Hawaiian Islands

Hawaii's many golf resorts offer the ultimate sports vacation. There are six glorious islands, each offering resorts that have been created just for golfers. Every day is the perfect day to golf in Hawaii, so it's an ideal year-round destination for avid golfers. No wonder so many of the world's leading golf course architects and athletes make the trip to experience the pinnacle of golf resorts. Kauai, Oahu, and Maui are popular for golf resorts that dreams are made of.

Hawaii's Maui island is home to some of the world's most impressive golf resorts. These little pieces of paradise offer sweeping views of the Maui coastline and glimpses of neighboring Lanai and Molokai islands. Humpback whales can be seen swimming along the coastline in winter, presenting Hawaiian golfers with yet another amazing site to add to the greens. A Maui golf resort is a true golfer's paradise, with spectacular scenic views of mountains and oceans, challenging golf courses and sloping terrains.

Given the extreme beauty and excitement of a Hawaiian golf resort vacation, it can be difficult to book a tee time. Despite the fact that these resorts can be more expensive, they are not always able to accommodate all of the golfers wishing to spend time on the greens.

* California

No "World's Best Golf Resorts" list is complete without naming some of the destinations found in Southern California. Home to many of the golf's most historic events, California golf resorts are among the best in the world, often chosen for International tournaments.

California offers a combination of natural beauty, perfect climate and genuine elegance, making it the perfect choice for business and for pleasure. Among the state's many celebrated places to play are the Double Tree Golf Resort, Pala Mesa Golf Resort and Mount Woodson. Whether you tee off with a view of the ocean, or a glimpse of those majestic mountains, California can be a truly remarkable place to spend your golf vacation.

* Golf Resorts in Michigan

The state of Michigan has earned the reputation as "America's Summer Golf Capital". There are 1000 golf resorts and courses, offering first-rate services and placing Michigan in 12th place on Golf Digest's list of best golf destinations in the world. In fact, four of America's Top 75 golf courses are located in Michigan. Clear waters, breathtaking vistas and lush fairways hook first-time visitors, and keep them coming back time and again.

* Golf Resorts in Florida

You can golf till you drop in Florida, because this state has more golf courses and golf resorts than you could begin to imagine. Of course, the golf courses and resorts in Florida offer first-rate facilities and amenities, from their pro golf shops and putting greens to the driving ranges, bars and restaurants.

Over the years, Florida has played host to many golf tournaments, including the international PGA and LPGA tours. In Florida, golf is nothing short of outstanding. With excellent accommodations and the best in dining, it's everything that a golfer could want in a golf resort vacation.

* Myrtle Beach Golf Resorts

Myrtle Beach is known as the "World's Golfing Capital", and home to first-rate golf resorts. With so many golf courses situated in and around Myrtle Beach, it would be difficult to find another place in the world that matches the sheer density of options.

* Golf Resorts in Ireland

You can search the world over, but nothing beats Ireland for real excitement, rugged challenges, excellent vistas and world-class golfing amenities. While it may not fit the typical "resort destination" bill, a golf vacation in Ireland is an experience that no golfer should live without.

If golfing is your passion, then consider a golf resort for your next getaway. With any luck, your spouse loves the sport as much as you do, and you can share the fun and excitement of your dream vacation.

Tips On Golf Putter

Golf Fitness Tip
Of the three major components of fitness (strength, endurance and flexibility) flexibility is probably the most important for having a powerful and effective golf swing. A good way to develop flexibility is Yoga. Take a class or even get a book. It will make a big difference in your game, especially in the long term. It will also help you with your overall fitness and general health.

On shots to the green line up to the center of the green. If the ball should fade or draw,you are still on the green. This is a good rule of thumb, however if your highly skilled then hit the shot fading or drawing that your comfortable with as part of your arsenal. Keep the ball in play and avoid the penalties and difficult lies, and positions that will cause you to score those nasty high numbers during your round.

Check out Jean Littler's golf book for yourself and learn how to swing a golf club the right way!

By Lee MacRae

Learn How To Swing A Golf Club

Learning how to swing a golf club properly is the Holy Grail for any golfer. Beginners usually start out by having someone show them how to do it. But even longtime golfers are often watching their friends or asking others for tips on how they do it. Then try to apply what they see or hear. In a nutshell, everyone is looking for the perfect way to swing a golf club.

For some beginners, learning how to swing a golf club is not a difficult task. Many people who have played baseball and become accomplished at it, can find it very easy to to transfer a baseball swing down to a golf swing. For others, learning how to swing a standard golf club becomes a seemingly monumental task. There seems to be so much to remember that they become overwhelmed.

The golf swing can be broken down into various sections. There is the backswing, the downswing, the impact and the follow-through. Each of these can and has been analyzed to try and find the perfect swing for each and every golfer. But then, there is also such a thing as a pre-shot routine, that's the sequence of events you go through before each and every swing. The really professional golfers do the exact same thing before each and every shot. They have their pre-shot routine down to a science and they follow it religiously. Quite often, the budding golfer or even the longtime duffer will continuously change their pre-shot routine almost daily looking for just that little extra secret or edge. Instead, they only succeed in messing up their golf swing and the whole thing starts all over again.

Of course, for some people it still becomes very difficult to learn how to swing a golf club properly. Fortunately for us today we have videos. We have videos of modern-day golfers like Tiger Woods or Ernie Els and we have video images of Jack Nicholas, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan and Bobby Jones. We can actually sit and watch exactly how they swing a golf club and try to emulate it.

And if you add in a few golf lessons and use the videos to piece it all together, you can improve your golf swing and your golf game amazingly fast. And if you can't afford a few golf lessons, you can always use the valuable golf books that are available to give you the gist of the golf swing and then use the videos to help you put it all together. Each and every golf pro can become like your personal tutor. One of the best golf e-books I've ever seen is one put out by Gene Littler. Littler won 29 PGA Tour events and had an incredibly beautiful swing. His swing is another one you can see on videos on the Internet- it has been termed one of the best ever by his contemporaries. Today Gene is helping people learn his golf swing by electronically publishing "Master The Golf Swing".

If you do want to improve your game and learn how to swing a golf club properly, you would do well to use the available golf videos and other available help like golf lessons or golfing eBooks. Improving your abilties in the golf swing will do a lot to not only improve your game, but you will enjoy it a whole lot more. So, you can continue to drive your shots every which way and suffer or spend your money wisely and really learn how to swing a golf club properly. The decision is up to you.

To develop the best possible grip for you. Every golfer swings and grips the club differently. Over 90 percent of golfers use the Vardon or overlapping grip. Players with smaller hands sometimes find the interlocking grip, with the little finger of the right hand interlocked with the index finger of the left hand, works best for them. Players with smaller should use a baseball type grip.
